This is according to a study by Johns Hopkins University.

Sleep problems

Around 15 percent have sleeping problems every now and then. Not falling asleep, waking up in the middle of the night and apnea cause quite a few complaints.

A cause of these sleeping problems can therefore lie in body weight.

What's up with that?

Fat people who lose 6 pounds and lose 15 percent of their waist size have about 20 percent fewer problems with sleeping problems. This applies to both men and women.

Are you too fat?

The occurrence of abdominal fat has mainly to do with predisposition. Belly fat is created when not enough energy is burned for the amount of energy that you absorb (food and drink).


Are you too fat and therefore may find it harder to sleep? Check on your bmi.

Tips for a slimmer waist:

1. Do abdominal exercises

2. Eat healthy: Raw vegetable salads, vegetables and fruit are good options as well as low-fat soups. Avoid food with a high sugar content and a low nutritional value.

3. Go cycling, running or swimming. Those are the best sports to get a flat stomach.

4. Drink water.
